Ladybug Costume

Have you ever imagined how cute your son/daughter would look with a ladybug costume. Well here are the instructions to make your son/daughter a ladybug halloween costume

What you need:

1 "wide tape
Black construction paper
Black leotard or turtleneck
Black leggings or sweat pants
2 stalks Chenille
Headband
Red card
Journal
Pen or pencil
Rule
Scissors
Glue

How to do:

For the body, using a grid of black or turtleneck with black pants or sweatpants.

For the antennas, two cleaners to wrap around a tube headband. If desired, curl the pipe cleaners around a pencil or a finger.

For the ladybug, use half a sheet of red card. Cut the cardboard into an oval.

Cut two half inch strips of black construction paper and glue in the center of the oval cardboard.

Cut different sized circles of black construction paper and glue onto the cardboard in a symmetrical pattern.

Let glue dry.

To attach the wings, cut four sets of two slits in the cardboard wings. The slots should be about an inch long and an inch apart, two sets at the top of the wings, and two groups of twelve to fourteen inches below.

Thread a length of an inch wide ribbon through the slits to form shoulder straps, the ends of the ribbon through the bottom slots. Try the wings on the child, adjust the shoulder straps to fit, and tie the ribbon.

Tips:

This idea could also be modified to make dragonflies, flies, bees and other insects using other colors of construction paper and making an appropriate way to transfer pattern to the cardboard.
